Day two… So I barely woke up in time to get myself in gear and shoot back out to the city for the Big Apple Con!!! Today I was joined not only by Dawg, but by my close friend and writer of theBORDERHOUNDS comic book Marcello Carnevali. March picked us up at my place and we made it into Manhattan much quicker then the day prior. Once we arrived, I made my rounds to say hello and good morning to everyone before going to grab some much needed coffee from the Dunkin Donuts next door. $3 for a large coffee would usually irritate me… but I was in bad shape LoL… I spent some time chatting with my brutha the Boogie Woogie Man, “Jimmy Valiant” before setting myself up at my home for the day. Shortly after settling in, Peter Mayhew arrived, cheerful and smiling. A true inspiration… again, he is a kind stand up guy for a man who is a world wide icon. I introduced him to Marcello (who happens to be a HUGE Star Wars fan), and I think it made March’s life… well, I would assume it did considering he had an ear to ear smile for the next few hours!!! So today I happened to be moved right next to the 007 people… I enjoyed chatting with Lynn-Holly Johnson for the larger part of the day. She very rarely does these signing events so it was nice that I had the chance to get to know her a little. Lynn played the role of Bibi Dahl in 1981’s James Bond film, “For Your Eyes Only.”

Sitting at the same table as Lynn was another Bond Girl, Gloria Hendry who played Rosie Carver in, “Live and Let Die.”

It was nice to see that Terri Runnels finally made it to New York after a grueling bout with the airlines… I know she was supposed to be in on Friday, but for some reason the airport was not letting any of the planes out of Florida. Regardless, she made it so I was happy to see another friendly face. Soon after her arrival, Scott Epstein rolled in with Scott and Ivan Putski… so it was like a wrestling reunion at the comic book convention LoL!!!

Since Jose Hernandez, Jr. actually made it down in time today… we were put next to each other for the day (which was the original plan). We did a few interviews together which was fun… One was for the Cruisin Cripples:

Marcello also did an interview with the Cruisin Cripples:

I sat and spoke with George Lazenby for a little while during the day, but I wanted to leave him be until he was ready to go which is when we snapped this shot together. George played the role of James Bond in the film, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”

I did another interview a little later on for another show called, “Home Invaders.” Very interesting indeed…

Before we wrapped things up for the day, I finally had the opportunity to spend some time with another stand up guy from Star WarsJerome Blake. Jerome has played MANY characters in the Star Wars anthology and he was a terrific guy. A true gentleman!

After leaving the Big Apple Con… we headed out to dinner with a large group including the Putski’s, Terri, Hernandez, and more… I’ll tell you ALL about that and the rest of my evening at the New York Horror Film Festival in the next edition of the BrimBLOG **COMING SOON I PROMISE**

Brimstone at Big Apple Con NYC: Part 1

My first day at the Big Apple Con at the Penn Plaza Pavilion in NYC was extremely interesting. I’m not going to lie… I was extremely stoked that I would be spending the day with Peter Mayhew, better known as the icon Chewbacca!!!

It’s always a pleasure doing these kinds of events because you have the opportunity to meet a tremendous amount of fans in one day. The foot traffic at these things is incredible!!! Mike Carbonaro, the organizer of the event was not expecting me for Saturday; however he made sure to have his right hand man “Spat” find me a home for the day. Everything moved pretty smoothly and I thankfully only had to deal with a handful of “special” fans throughout the day. It was raining really hard outside and we all figured that this would have a negative effect on the over-all turnout. It slowed down for a little while, but then began to crank again. I did a bunch of interviews for Fangoria Magazine, Sci-Fi Ninja Theater, and a few others in between talking with fans.

So, a little while after I did the interview with Bekah from Fangoria… I heard a lot of noise coming from down by Chewie… it sounded like… ummm, well Wookies!!! Dawg and I ran over to see what all the hoopla was about only to find Peter Mayhew standing with not only one… but THREE Wookies!!! Peter mentioned to me that they have witnessed fans in full blown costumes before, although not that big or three at once!!! Very fun, right down to the sounds they were making…

I had the honor and privilege for the second day in a row to acquaint myself with yet another Legend in my world of professional wrestling, WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “The Boogie Woogie Man” Valiant. Jimmy is a terrific guy and I enjoyed talking with him at length. Jimmy has the BWC which is a training facility and a professional wrestling museum. I’m looking forward to hopefully heading out to see him sometime in the near future and checking everything out.

Jamie Luner made a pit-stop to say hello during the day. It is incredible how much Jamie has changed since “Just the 10 of Us.” Hell, look how much I’ve changed since then… but I guess it’s strange to see someone now that you used to enjoy watching in the past. I never knew that it was her on Melrose Place years ago either?!? Well regardless, she’s a sweetheart and considering we’d spent the last couple of days together and still had Sunday to go… we got the chance to get to know each other.

Jose Hernandez Jr. FINALLY made it down!!! He had shot over to the SAW-A-Thon across town to meet with a bunch of people before shooting over to the Big Apple Con. We were actually supposed to sit with each other for the day while signing, but NOOOOO… someone couldn’t get over to the convention on time!!!! LoL, Hernandez and I shot downstairs to do a quick photo session for Brendan Burke. I’ve attached a couple of shots…

I enjoyed my Sesame Street flashback talking to the guys from the Monster Factory… great job these guys do. This guy is responsible for a large portion of the Muppets, Sesame Street, and Dark Crystal.

It’s always nice to make new friends when the opportunity permits… I always say that you can never have too many right? I had the pleasure of making friends with the beautiful Cheryl Bachman and Kathy St. George.

I had to leave the convention at around 4ish (although as much as I tried to leave, I could not get out for awhile) to get down to PWR for my match. I finally got to the show (as the opening bell rang) did my match… and found my way home to sleep for a few hours before having to go back for round 2

Brimstone Attends Celebrity Fundraiser for Breast Cancer...

Permalink 12:45:08 pm, Categories: Announcements [A], 695 words

Friday evening I was picked up and brought out to Rex Manor in Brooklyn, New York to make an appearance for the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Foundation. I’m always a sucker for a good cause and I dedicate a lot of time to supporting as many foundations as humanly possible. Some people wonder why I am so adamant about attending these type of events, but the answer is quite simple… it’s the right thing to do. The night started off on the wrong foot for a few different reasons… I found out that my friend Terri Runnels (who was supposed to also be attending) was still stuck at the airport in Florida and would not be able to make it to the event (obviously). Then, the ride itself was long!!! I mean retarded long… traffic up the wah-zoo!!! We dealt with the delays by cracking jokes and by me catching up on a bunch of phone calls that I was well behind on. After a three hour ride that should have taken about forty-five minutes, we finally reached our location. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by a few old friends as well as a couple new faces. I was pleased to see that my boys from the Cruisin’ Cripples, Josh & KB were in attendance. I was then introduced to a sweetheart of a woman, “Fury” of American Gladiators as well as the unpredictable Jamie Luner. Before getting comfortable, I ran upstairs to the dressing room where I found my brutha from anotha mutha, “Jose Hernandez, Jr.,” who was finishing gussying himself up for the festivities. The two of us proceeded to walk downstairs and head back into the room where the actual event would be taking place.

I was starving like you would not believe, so I dug into the divine buffet that was sitting and calling my name LoL… As I dined on my delicious grub, my friend Scott Epstein walks in with WWE Hall of Famer, “Ivan Putski” and his son and WWE Alumni Scott Putski. Everyone knows I tell it like it is and the Putski’s are serious class acts. Scott and Ivan were very cool and easy to get along with. They just came in from Texas and were getting ready to head out to Amsterdam in order to do a signing at the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Scott was explaining to Jose Hernandez and I that he is doing a new gimmick based on the Pantera song, “Cowboys from Hell.” It turns out that Scott was a good friend of Dimebag Darrell and they had been talking about this gimmick before Dime’s premature death a few years ago. Scott spent a good portion of the time he was there trying to convince Hernandez to be a part of their team as a manager… I think it would be cool!!!

I hopped up on stage to introduce the Cover Girls and then went back to the table to continue talking with Fury. We talked about a bunch of things including American Gladiators and I found that aside from being an extremely sweet person, she happens to be somewhat of a brain as well!!! She was an absolute pleasure to sit and talk with. I am sincerely looking forward to potentially working with her on a few things in the near future.

We stayed for quite awhile and had the opportunity to hear Judy Torres sing. She has apparently come out with a new album recently and the new stuff sounded pretty good.

It was starting to get pretty late and I had to be up and ready to get over to the Penn Plaza Pavilion early in the AM for the Big Apple Con in New York City. Our driver Rich (who was a good sport dealing with me in the car) was great and got us home thankfully quickly and in one piece!!!

It's a Movie Makin' World... & Brim is Right in the middle of it!!!

Whooo… I can’t tell you the whirlwind that I have been in the last few weeks!!! I’ve been completely swamped and with my lack of regular internet access, it’s been quite difficult to sit and get the BrimBLOG up and running properly. As everyone who reads this knows… I pride myself in trying to give everyone up to date happenings on my every day travels. Well, it’s time for me to play catch up and add about 5 or so new blogs… hope you all enjoy them!!!

Brimstone & JR Michaels on Set
Brimstone & JR Michaels on Set

Let’s start off with the fact that I’ve been spending a lot of time on sets filming recently. I finally finished up my role in JR Michaels’ film, “Touch.” It had been taking forever for us to actually have the opportunity to get this scene done. Scheduling conflicts literally held up the filming for months which really drove me crazy… but, it is complete!!! I play the role of, “John Whisper,” and I have a fight scene with the lead character. The lead is played by the director JR Michaels himself; however he has no experience in staging a fight. Hahaha, let’s just say that in all my years in the professional wrestling business… I have never been injured as much as in the scene with JR!!! He somehow managed to chip my tooth, scratch my eye, and gave me a fat lip during the melee. Unbelievable huh!?! Anyway, I can’t wait to see the final version of the movie which should be out early next year.

Following a long day of filming… Dawg, Marcello Carnevalli and I headed out to Cheeburger Cheeburger for a well deserved bite to eat… Yep, we ate the BIG BURGER… Mmmmm…

On November 9th, Dawg and I shot out to Brooklyn to film another movie called, “Blood Line,” by Steven Rahaman. We got there early in order to ensure we would be there on time, although we were there WAY too early!!! We had the opportunity to meet many good people over the course of the long day. I played the role of, “Tyler Stone,” a bad ass bodyguard for a low class music executive trying to strong-arm a young musical artist. Filming was a blast and Dawg made his silver screen debut as the other bodyguard. I always thought doing the movie thing would be fun, but it truly takes things to the next level. It allows you to kind of become another character… another person… well, kind of like… wrestling. Who’d a thunk it… LoL.

Jose Hernandez, Jr. & Brimstone on Red Carpet at Arena
Jose Hernandez, Jr. & Brimstone on Red Carpet at Arena

Thursday nights in New York City just continue to get crazier… I committed to attend an event over at The Arena and wound up getting there pretty early. I met up with Jose Hernandez, Jr. and figured on walking over to the spot rather than making a fashionably late appearance. We arrived on scene and posed for photos on the red carpet before heading inside. Jose, Dawg, and I were able to find a nice little area to just chill and catch up on things before the place began to fill-in.

I noticed from a distance that an unexpected (by me) Pablo Escobar, Jr. had entered the building. Dawg went to let Pablo know we were there and he was told that we were supposed to head up to the V.I.P. area as well. Jose and I shot upstairs in order to start the festivities! We always have a blast when we get together so I was happy to see him.

Funny thing was… it became almost a repeat of the other night! Soon after, we were joined by Samantha Cole and her manager (donning an authentic looking military outfit).

Just about 45 minutes later… we were again joined by E6 (From G’s to Gents)! This was hilarious considering we just painted the town red last week and it looked as though it was about to happen again!!!

I was at one point brought over to meet with up and coming artist, O’Neil McKnight who is being pushed by Russell Simmons himself. I said a quick hello and let him be considering he was going to perform following the fashion show. I noticed the models lining up to run the catwalk so I scurried over to my side again to watch the show. The models were fierce although I would have preferred to see my girls Claire, Marvita, and Atalya work it instead LoL… Hey, I have to put my friends over!!!

Now… what happened next boggled my damn mind!!! I have seen A LOT of different things in my time throughout music, wrestling, acting… hell LIFE in general… but in ALL my time and endless escapades, I have never witnessed what I saw that night. I noticed some guy somehow stroll upstairs and make his way passed the security. He walked into the V.I.P. area passing myself and Pablo, then proceeded to SLAP a woman who was sitting towards the back of the section!!! Well, this kind of thing does NOT fly by me and before I could even say boo… Dawg jumped over and grabbed this piece of trash and subdued him until the club’s security finally got over there. They dragged him out and we all checked to see if she was alright. About 5 minutes later… this dude somehow made his way BACK into the club, BACK up to V.I.P, and started walking towards this girl yet again!!! Well, this time I personally interjected and grabbed the guy in his tracks to keep him away from his target. I tried reasoning with him (although I made sure to let him know that I thought he was a pathetic excuse for a man for hitting a woman), but the punk just refused to listen and continued to try and pass me. At this point Dawg saw what was going on and made his way over to me just in time to hear this guy (obviously not too intelligent) try and threaten me… BAD IDEA. The club’s security once again made their way over as Dawg tried calming me down. I’m a really nice guy and very easy to get along with… this guy was seriously pressing his luck. He was just not worth me getting bad press over. Simple as that. I decided that we should just leave before I lost my self-control. As we headed out, I ran into Carlos from MTV’s Making the Band 4.

Carlos was heading down to Mariah Carey’s Halloween party and we were considering just heading over there with him and his crew but instead we headed over to Runway for a few to unwind. I apparently missed Ice T and Coco by literally five minutes so I was pretty upset about that. I wound up listening to DJ Clue on the turntables and hanging with Vince Carter (NBA - Nets) for a little while before calling it a night.

Samantha Cole's Birthday: 10-24-08

Friday night… quite the kind of evening for a celebration! I headed into the city to attend my friend Samantha Cole’s birthday party at Providence on 57th between 8th and 9th. As usual, I arrived early and was ushered upstairs to the V.I.P. area. I wandered downstairs to check out the digs while I waited for the guest of honor. The place was set-up pretty nice for a “Black Carpet Event.” I was told that Samantha had arrived, so I started shooting back upstairs and on the way met up with my boy Pablo Escobar, Jr.

Brimstone & Samantha Cole

Samantha wanted to take photos with myself and a couple other celebrities prior to heading down to the carpet. We shot off a few shots and I had the pleasure of meeting the host for the evening, Indashio of VH1’s Glam God. We then went down to the black carpet for the press and proceeded to enter into the soirée.

After a few hours and an extremely loud rendition of “Happy Birthday,” we headed out to make a quick appearance at Touch.

I was joined by Pablo and E6 (MTV: From G’s to Gents) as we were again ushered into the club and up to the V.I.P. where there was a bottle waiting for us. LoL, too bad that I don’t drink huh?

Not too long after we arrived on scene, I was introduced to 12 Pack (I Love New York, I Love Money) and we had a long discussion about an event he did recently for charity which involved him in a wrestling ring… seems as though he may be getting the itch to pursue professional wrestling.

It was a long, long, long night and I was over exhausted… so Dawg and I got the hell out of dodge!!! Sorry about how long it’s taking to get the BrimBLOG’s up recently, my internet issues are starting to really REALLY get on my nerves!!! Until next time…

Thursday evening… I headed out to Staten Island for a project that I am involved in. Of course heading there around the time that I was scheduled was quite literally the WORST time to be traveling through that area!!! The traffic was insane and I was starting to run pretty late. Once I finally arrived (about 30 minutes late) it turned out that a there was a personal emergency that I needed to tend to so I had to leave almost as quickly as I got there…

Bernard Purdie & Brimstone

I did however swing back to meet up with legendary, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie otherwise known as, “The World’s Most Recorded Drummer.” We spent a couple of hours having dinner while talking about music and “old school” wrestling. Certainly a great conversation! I’m looking forward to actually working with Bernard in the future! Crazy night but sometimes that’s a good thang.
